Developed at Virginia Tech under world-renowned crystalographers Dr. David Cox and Dr. Gerald Gibbs, VASP Viewer uses isosurfaces to display the electron density functions generated by the VASP simulation. Tim Terrinberry began development in c and openGL and I later added more usability functions, including the ability to display more than one isovalue simultaneously, view non-orthogonal crystal structures, save predefined views, and change crystal display options. An object-oriented tool library, AVT currently supports contour reconstruction from 2D image planes and isosurface display. Additionally, AVT allows for generalized scene graph management, agent behaviors, animation callbacks, and physics simulations. Supervised by Dr. Bob Downs of University of Arizona, AVT will augment the capabilities of XTALDraw and could be integrated with other visualization packages. Click here to learn more.
